My Neighbor Totoro Dubbing by Disney Dakota and Elle Fanning

My Neighbor Totoro is a Studio Ghibli animated film that was originally released in 1988 but was re-released by Disney with a new dub on March 2006 (they bought the rights after Fox's expired in 2004). This information was gotten from wikipedia.

So... I was looking for this video on youtube recently and couldn't find it. I have only seen the screencaps of it and was very lucky to find it on someone's website a couple of days ago. So this wasn't made by me.
My Neighbor Totoro is an amazing cartoon, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. It was released in 1988. The english dub by Disney was released in 2005. Previous to that there was a dub done by Fox which I am not familiar with.
I have seen the cartoon in japanese with english subtitles. So this little video was very interesting to watch.

EDIT! (January 24th 2009): I found the Fox dub for Totoro last week! I couldn't add the link then so I am doing it now :). And the videos were uploaded this month! Here is the link, it is so interesting to watch the Fox version that so many people here have mentioned they think is better!:

I don't get the negative comments on this one. People don't really get the purpose of dubs. It's good to watch it in its original voicing, but the dubs make the adults follow the movie better, and it reaches a wider audience, too.

I don't think they did a horrible job. It's fun to know that actual sisters are voicing these two characters. Yes, the problem with accents is still there, but i think the energy is evident. It's not dry or bland at all.

Stop sounding like a bunch of weaboos, guys.

i grew up with the original dub i will always love that version most and i love dakota fanning but the way they say totoro bugs me but she is an amazing actress

Aw, they were so cute when they were little! After watching this video a second time, the dubbing really isn't that bad. In fact it's actually quite good! The only thing the girls can't say right is Totoro's name but otherwise, I may consider buying this version. Of course, I'll still keep my DVD copy of the original FOX dub (I still prefer this version over any other dub).

Why hate on disney for dubbing a great movie? This dub was just as good as the old one and the only people saying its bad are nostalgia fags. Oh, they didn't pronounce totoro right? Who gives a FUCK. They're little kids. If you're really going to be that picky, buy a used DVD for 50 dollars so you can hear voice acting that isn't any better than the disney version.

Part three

the dub comes out they hate it. And its also why people who to hear the dub first find absolutely nothing wrong with it until a second dub comes out. Then they hate the second dub as much as people who listened to the subs hated the first dubs.

I watched the Disney version of Totoro first. And as biased as I know it is, I think they did a great job.

If I decide to watch an anime subbed, and go back and listen to it dubbed, the voices in dubbed will sound off, wrong.
