In 1967 Denny Hulme came to Croft for a sports car race which torrential rain reduced to a farce. More spins than in any race, ever!

  • Fantastic. What great cars - Lola 70s, Ford GTs, Porsches, Ferraris, Lotus 47, Chevrons, and one or two pointing in the right direction ! Was that Mike de Udy's Lola coming a cropper against the bank?

I saw the Sid Taylor Lola win at Crystal Palace a few weeks later in the hands of Frank Gardner.

A lovely atmospheric bit of film.

  • Looking at the (ever-changing) configuration of David Piper's P2/3 (s/n 0836), I think you can safely say 1967.

  • An absolutely priceless piece of British motor racing history. I suppose you realise just what a treasure this is for racing historians! I remember Sunny(!)Corner well, including the ludicrously positioned marshals post (Peter wingfield). Do you happen to have any footage of the fantastic early 70's F3 races at Croft? I was a very young paddock marshal at there, many fond memories. Thank you, Sir and thank you internet!

  • Been to croft loads of times - but not in those conditions! That must have been quite a long time ago, judging by the cars + tape!
