  • When you get a copy 'Pyramid' you'll notice, besides the incredible cover art, that the composer of title tune is Ray Brown. Another terrific piece of cover art appears on the MJQ's 'Third Stream Music'. Along side those of John Lewis are strong compositions by Gunther Schuller and Jim on 'TSM'. Enjoy!

  • Well said, 1948BigCy !

  • ahhh so chill :)

  • and i've got to say, thank you....

and up and out to my dear late friend, Doug Edwards,

this moment, this vibe is for you....

  • Absolutely amazing. Very good.

  • thank you

  • @jazzfanjohn Actually, they were the rhythm section in Dizzy Gillespie's great, but short lived big band in the late 1940's, at least Milt and John were. Ray Brown was the bassist, I think. The drummer was the great Kenny Clarke. Brown and Clarke were with MJQ for a short while but left, and were most ably replaced by Connie and Percy. Buy their MJQ at Carnegie album. I saw them live at Town Hall in NYC. They just walked out of the wings and proceeded to play great music; best group in jazz!

  • Thank you e4Learnign for this Jazz Masterpeice. Interplay between John Lewis and Milt Jackson is matchless and incomparable. Connie Kay's drumming is supportive yet unintrusive while Percy Heath provides a true classic walking bass. Wish to dedicate this piece to my late friend Sylvester Maifadi - true jazz lover.

  • Beautiful - thanks for the excellent sound quality. Milt's entry at 2.30 is goosepimpling!

PS: Not bad for a group someone elsewhere on u-tube called "a rhythm section"!

  • Thanks for uploading it.
