This video shows the supplies and technique for relaxing dried butterflies. With this information you will be able to soften brittle specimens so their wings can be spread for display.

This is the first in a series of tutorials that will show you how to create your own butterfly display for artistic or scientific purposes

  • Thank you.. This provides an extremely clear and precise explanation and instruction- as does your other how-to-spread a butterfly video. I am brand new at insect mounting and these were very useful and helpful.

  • @esmeraldarupp Great, I'm glad this helped!

  • How long would a smaller species take? Also, is it a good idea to keep the relaxing chamber under a light, or away from the light?

  • @SmileyFaceEmo The smaller types can take as little time as 1 day. I would not put the relaxing champer under a light, as it can cause the water to evaporate sooner.
