Fresh Strategies for Stability?
The broader Middle East region is facing a complex landscape of insecurity in 2008, where any one of a number of linked issues could trigger a major conflict. In addition to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran are enduring epicentres of concern. The upcoming US elections may give rise to fresh strategies to secure stability in the region.

What are the key ingredients of any revised strategy to secure peace in the region in 2008 and beyond?

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt
Ali Babacan
Brian Baird, Congressman from Washington (Democrat), 3rd District, USA
Nader Dahabi, Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Mohamed M. ElBaradei, Director-General, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Vienna
Alexander Saltanov

Chaired by Christopher Dickey, Bureau Chief, Paris, and Regional Editor, Middle East, Newsweek, France
