Religious freedom was their aim
They came on the Mayflower ship
It was a really awful and uncomfortable trip

William Bradford led the troop
On Plymouth Rock, they found a group
Of Indians that showed them the ways
Way easier they made their days

In 1630 more puritans showed
Led by John Winthrop came a bigger load
Of Pilgrims wanting religious freedom
The King they didnt need him!

Back to 1607 the first real settlement
Jamestown was where the English men went
Infested by mosquitos the first place was
Just about wiped out by those bugs

Men and women treated the same
William Penn invented its name

New Jersey founded in 1664
Religious freedom was knocking on the door
Duke James, George Berkley
And sir George
Through tough times they continued to forge

Rhode Island founded in 1647
Anne and Roger thought it was heaven
They were kicked out of massachuttes
They were forced to leave
Through vicious threats

The puritans got bored with their home
Connecticut is where they roamed
Thomas hooker in 1839
Forested hills, oh so fine!
