Racer X guitarist Bruce Bouillet gives some insight into his high-tech heavy metal soloing style in this instructional video, with special attention given to the basic modes, pentatonic and blues scales, and arpeggio sequences. The latter department is really where Bouillet is most helpful, as he demonstrates how to sequence various arpeggio ideas all over the neck; much of the other information is fairly rudimentary. Includes some live performances of Racer X instrumentals featuring the rhythm section of that band.

  • @gitarrmicke73 No kiddin!! xD te one sound to rule them all that i love the most is Petrucci's or Andy James' i thing they have tons of punch for riffs as well as a clear sound for solos. But that's true, these guys are tricky!!! Beware!

  • @Vergucci ...hehe , yeah... and Paul Gilbert had the same type of sound only he had tons of chorus in there to ... lyckely they got over it later but I remember puting the same effects on my guitar at that time.... what was I thinking ... They tricked us in to think it was cool ... damn .. :)

  • He's got the worst sound ever -.- it's quite annoying

  • @AlexShowdra Dominant refers to a major chord or a scale with a major third and a flat seven , that´s the principal

characteristic of the dominant definition .

    If you take a look at the mixolydian mode it has a 1 -2 -3 - 4 -5- 6- b7 , so the dominat chord ( talking about the major scale ) can be G7 , G7 (9) , G7(11) and G7 ( 13)

Phrygian dominant is the 5# degree of the harmonic minor , its formula is 1-b2-3-4-5-b6-b7.

And a dominat pentatonic is a minor pentatonic with the major 3

  • @HiImJerry8 Haha alright good to know, thanks!

  • @AlexShowdra yeah pretty much

  • Does Bruce's guitar have a scalloped fretboard?

  • Are all scales and chords referred to as "Dominants" when a tritone occurs between the third and seventh?

i.e. Phygian dominant, dominant pentatonic, dominant chords
