eeexubuntu + mobile internet + lynx web browser

This is just something I made to show what you can do with you eee pc and what I do with mine.

Lynx web browser is a text based web browser and can min. traffic quite drastically if your capped.

Most mobile internet connections are capped to certain download limits which is why this browser is great for overcoming that problem.

I used a little badnwidth monitor to make sure I dont use too much bandwidth.

My phone the W880i is connected using USB. I am a German Vodafone client and support for connecting to their service via a Linux distribution was rather limited so most of this stuff I had to figure out myself.

I have a Black ASUS EEE PC 701 model with 8gb SDHC card and 1gb of ram. My OS is GNU/Linux and the distribution I use is eeexubuntu(modified it a bit, to use even less space and cpu).

what is the point of having this? what if i want to watch a video on the internet

Then there is no point to this. The point of this is using it with mobile internet ie with your cellphone. And if you dont have a "Flatrate" then your limit can easily be reached by loading images and stuff. This only loads text.

Nice. I tried lynx on my Mac (under the UNIX shell thing) and I love it! You're right in that its not complicated, one just needs the arrow keys and a Return/enter button (+ keys for typing in the URL, of course).
