This game was requested by some people, kind of. Ever heard of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (English name of Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo) which was back in the days a Japanese exclusive for the PC-Engine (TurboGrafx-16)? You probably know The Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP which is the remake of Rondo of Blood and contains an English version of the original too. Those games were most likely those requested when people said Dracula X to me, as Castlevania: Dracula X was a game on the SNES originally intended to be a port of Rondo of Blood, but due to legal issues, it ended up being a different game that some people call a sequel (it ends with XX in Japan, as if to mean it is the second "X" game). Also called Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss in Europe, it's not a sequel in my opinion, it's just a different game meant to replace Rondo of Blood as best as it could, but it ended up being a disappointing game compared to the original, although it shares much of the same storyline and gameplay. It's a lot like Super Castlevania IV too, except you don't have any place where you can hang your whip to. Also, you control a different Belmont called Richter, who has this ability to use Item Crash (spend more hearts with a particular subweapon and you'll use a powerful attack that often fills up the whole screen). He can do a backflip and jump anywhere while on the stairs. He's after Dracula because he's a vampire hunter like his ancestors, but also because he has to save Annette, his girlfriend, and Maria, her sister, who are trapped in the castle. (Yes, there are a couple alternate paths depending on who you save or not, with different endings too. Well, not that different endings anyway.) The main difference with Rondo of Blood, apart from the different Levels (and there are less of them) is that you can't play as a character you saved. Because of the nature of the game, I cut the redundant parts (going through the same Stages three times to get all endings) and only put each Stage once. If a Stage offers two paths at one point, I cut the video there and put 2 next parts, one for each path. Anyway, you'll see in time, the first occurrence of this being on Stage 3. This is also why you might notice a difference in the current heart total from one video to another or even the total points at the end of a Stage. Don't necessarily rely on my passwords to get one ending or another (for example, if Stage 5 is shared by a path leading to the worst and normal endings, you don't know which Stage 5 I uploaded from my recordings, the password at the end might lead you to one ending or another and I don't remember which one I picked). I suggest you visit some website to get the password you need. Enjoy the game for what it is, this doesn't mean I won't do a Rondo of Blood or Dracula X Chronicles walkthrough, I'll do them too eventually. As always with Castlevania games, even though this one doesn't feature CD quality music like the original game it's based on, it still features a good soundtrack to listent to. Don't forget, if you have requests like for another video game walkthrough or something, just ask here or on my channel or even by sending me a message and if I can make it, there are good chances that I will.
how do you perform a backflip?
BroedgeMan 1 year ago
@BroedgeMan Similar to a double jump, press the button twice.

@DarkEvil87 thanks - Double Jump?!? can you also do this in this game?
BroedgeMan 1 year ago
@BroedgeMan I see now how my previous sentence was confusing, but no you can't double jump in this game. I just meant that the backflip was done the same way a double jump would be if there was any.

so this is for which system? The Rhondo of blood is on the Wii and it says it was for the TurboGraphics system. There's also another Castlevania out on the "Wii Ware" that is from an arcade version of Castlevania... the name I can't recall.

Rondo of Blood is on TurboGrafx CD. Dracula X was inspired by Rondo of Blood (but doesn't feature the same Stages) and it's for SNES.
