Im pretty sure 780 were used. For each piece there are 5 triangles of 9 which is 45 and then that is on a ring of 20 so 65 for each part. 65 times 12 parts equals 780.

@RygernXD lots....... me and my friend have 2200 approx, so less than that, im afraid i cant give you an exact figure, try and work them out maybe? that would be an interesting problem to solve, sorry i cant b more help
