One of our Russian kolyadki is matched with contemporary photos of Orthodox Chrisitians at prayer and feasting. My intent was to "enflesh" Orthodox life, both our worship and our celebrations. The final image is "The Nativity of Christ" by the contemporary Russian artist Pavel Popov. The first image is the cathedral at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville NY during the winter Christmas season.

  • Russia lives wherever Russian Orthodox Christians gather. We have never forgotten, nor shall we allow it to be lost.

  • It was lost for 80 years. Thank you for bringing our culture back. May it endure and remind our enemies that Russia was the greatest Christian country before 1917 and the spirit of Christ never left us. The Karmic Pendulum has swung from the left to right, from darkness to light.

  • Beautiful music and a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing this with us. I would like to add that my mother was from England before moving to the US after WWII. She told me how Russian ships would sometimes dock in Liverpool, how she could hear the Russian seamen singing when near the docks, and how wonderful their voices were.

  • The singing is so beautiful & Fr. John Whiteford made it in the slide show. :)
