Touring the Toronto Transit Commission's Bay Lower Station during the 2008 Doors Open Toronto event that took place on Saturday, May 24, 2008.
Below the main subway platform at Bay Station is another subway platform known as Lower Bay by the general public and Bay Lower by the TTC. Bay Lower was used for only six months in 1966 as part of an interlining experiment between the Yonge-University and Bloor-Danforth subway lines. At the end of the six month trail period the interlining experiment was deemed a failure due to many problems. The TTC decided that it would be best to run the Yonge-University and Bloor-Danforth subway lines separately and Bay Lower was then sealed off from the general public.
Today Bay Lower is used for training new subway train operators and for filming movies and commercials.
