the round was first designed for the p90 in late 1980's the pistol was developed later ... look p90 up on wiki

Having a 5.7mm is a great idea, its more compact, and has a high velocity rate as seen in the F5-7 pistol and the P90. It also allowes for sustained accurate fire and larger magazines. I own a F5-7 and belive me, the 5.7mm round is a great round even if its only a pistol round

if you have the 5-7 pistol and a AR-15, you can buy the 5-7 upper for it with no back ground check for less than a P90, and you can use the same ammo in both guns, plus it gives you the kick ass fire power of the 50rd magazines, with plenty of options to accessorize the upper with greater accuracy...:-) than the 5-7 pistol

why not?!?! lol

What is the price for one of these? I have a buddy that has an AR with the 5.7 conversion on it and total cost (after buying the AR AND 5.7 conversion new) was about 2000$

Currently $695 for the Upper receiver, so a based base of less than $1000

cool. but whats the point? 5.7 is a pistol round so why would you want to put it into a rilfe system.

for the same reason they use it in the P90

right, but the p90 is an sub gun, so it makes sense. the AR is a rifle.

This follows the same pattern as the M4 CARBINE, not the rifle
