Wordy little ditty but one of their best folky songs, I hope I've hope I've done it justice, (apart from the embarrassing voice crack at the end ... had to be at the end didn't it [sad face]).

How high is your house? Do you pay for your power?
From the underground when the moon is round what (?rumours?) you encounter?
Does the sewer part its bellows Do you dribble your heart on your pillows?
Do you dream your pillows packed with soil of yesterdays bedfellows?

the whisper wake up honey your Sunday Morning Records are on fire
Theyve melted to a sad old prune now your boyfriends sick and your mothers blue
And the flames of this empire, though your Sunday morning ringer was a liar
Burn like only the truth can, brightly

Privilege born to privilege made, kindness left when privilege stayed
Cold as the blue stones that it laid, how high is our house now darling
When me and Molly went walking by, me and Molly had fun
But in all our free emotion me and Molly got overdone

But in these rooms we live like monks, penitent poor from six-day drunks to sundey
Morning heckles and in their jest, parading as angels in their Sunday best so brightly

Sunday morning singer, has a voice like a telephone ringer
And the birds in the trees with his disease sing of summer in the middle of winter

He says I wont for many, says I will for some
Were waiting for a later day when his will will be undone

And what was the thing you spoke of, which might be set in motion?
Did you know that on this isle we leave our cousins to the ocean?

Dream of something missed, which may be sun but one day ahead

Theres no point in making Sunday morning records when its Monday
Its told untold, in the middle of the road, the two hearts beat as one, hey?
Theres no point in making Sunday morning records when its Monday

No point in making Sunday morning records when its Monday

Here in these rooms we live like monks, penitent poor from six day drunks to sundey

Morning heckles amid their jest, parading as angels in their Sunday best so brightly, brightly

Brightly

  • Great job! What album is this from?

  • @antiph0bia Thanks, it's off The Vineyard single released in 2002

  • Would it be at all possible for you to share the tabs for this song? It's impossible to find a reasonable version on the net.

  • No probs, what's your email address?
