This great Prison poet wrote this in 1968. Knight is considered one of the great African-American Poets, along with Gwendolyn Brooks, Langston Hughes or Amiri Baraka.

  • Can't thank you enough for this.

  • @RobertLowellPoetry it makes the most sense.

  • This is why I love Etheridge Knight. When most black poets write about race it gives liberal white readers a vague sense of unease. It's as if the poet does not want to offend, but still wants to enforce the fact that there is a racial wall. (I cannot guess how such poetry makes black readers feel.) Knight writes like he does not give a damn how you feel, or who is reading him. It's about race, but it's beyond race. It's about life - - ugly and raw. Do I make sense? Probably not, but I tried.

  • Etheridge Knight =TRILL SPILL (VIVID LINGUISTICS)- KiN CAMELL
