  • From my perspective these churches are related due to their use of the Book of Mormon as scripture. It's merely artistic license to refer to the 3 churches situated around the Temple Lot as "Mormon". Frankly I'm not sure the LDS church embraces that moniker so from a strict point of view it may never be proper to use it. As proof (hopefully) that I'm not an utter moron I've added a link in the video description to a blog post describing my visit to the Community of Christ temple.

  • I am a member of the Community of Christ, but I've never had the chance to visit the temple unfortunatly. Thank you for posting the pictures. However, I did want to point out that we (the members of the Community of Christ) are not mormons. The reason we changed our church's name was so that we wern't confused with the mormon church. Our beliefs are different than those of the LDS church, although we share the same roots. Just wanted to mention that.

  • The temple looks like a screw. Is that because they put the screws to you?

  • you should check out the messiah of joseph, and the imminent advent of political kingdom of god: blogtalkradio.c om/artbulla

  • @jarom676 This is not an accurate statement. The CoC(RLDS) never "Broke away" from the Utah base LDS Church. The Utah church was was founded (and incorporated) by Brigham Young after his followers left the Midwest. The Reorganized LDS Church is descended from Latter-Day Saints who remained in the Midwest and joined into communion with Joseph Smith III as the second Prophet.

  • @weird14u it is. this group the former RLDS now CoC is a breakaway group.

  • Maybe one year some members of these LDS-based denominations will cease to "gnash their teeth" at one another and cease the accusations of who's right and who's wrong. It gets old fast! I commend the Community of Christ organization for its forward-moving spirit and positive attitude in establishing itself as a religious organization dedicated to world peace through the doctrine of Christ's all-encompassing love.

  • i hope you enjoyed your visit to the community of christ temple!

we are a worldwide christian denomination that proclaims jesus christ and promotes communities of joy, hope, love and peace!

drop by again sometime and God Bless!

  • @apologiamixer It is designed from a spiral sea-shell.

  • My friend, this is NOT the Morman Church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is. These picture are of the Community of Christ's, which is the former REORGANIZED Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, World Headquarters in Independence, MO. The name was changed on April 6, 2000 for just this reason. Yes, the roots of the Church are Morman, but around 1850, the Reorganized Church was formed; many people didn't like the Morman "teaching" and ways of life, i.e. Polygamy.
