This is your opinion... so what are you doing here, wasting time on " superficial and unoriginal things"? we are free to give attention to whatever we like as you are free to go somewhere else listening/watching real art... i'd like to know what you mean for real art... please, give us some examples....

i can say only one thing: i love this band, but i don't like the new album, too much techno elements, it's getting softer....i was (am) very disappointed, i want the old stuff!!

And your argument style is sophomoric at best. You sling claims of intellectual higher ground out, then just try to denegrate your opponents when they catch you with your pants down. "LOL WHAT IS EVIDENCE. YOU IZ KIDZ, HAHA."

Art is something of beauty, aesthetics, or elevated significance. Ultimately, it's up to YOU the individual to determine what is or is not art. SO how is it that you are a proponent of independent thought yet you insist we all accept your definition of beauty?

There you go defining it again... right before saying that its the individual that defines it. So I guess contradicting yourself is a better way to argue?? Thanks for the tips. I don't personally think art has to be beautiful, art can look or sound like complete shit and still be art. Obviously the WORD art would have to have some basic meaning or it wouldn't be a word, but as close as you can get to defining it is something thats made in an act of self expression.

My problem is that this band is completely superficial and unoriginal, if art is self expression, and everyone is different, then they shouldn't sound the same as the other bands, they shouldn't write the same songs. Its like their entire fan base is only focusing on shallow fashion statements and bullshit. This in turn pisses me off, because real art gets completely ignored when people give their attention to this shit.

Evidence is tangible, support facts to back your arguement. You argue that 30 seconds to mars copies other people. Ok cool. That means nothing. You need fact. CITE an example, like "If you mesh the chord structure between this song and this song, you see that they're the same," or "the lyrics are just synonyms"

I have to say I don't like their new album nearly as much as I loved their old one.

This is why I love YOUTUBE. I had no idea they had a new album out. But betcha bottom dollar I'm going out to buy it Right now. Right after i finish walking the dog...
