...Kurdistan is the northern portion of Iraq. Most Kurds live there, some of them live in southern Turkey. The Kurds gassed in the Anfal Campaign were Kurds located in Northern Iraq. He killed around 200,000 of them, depending on source. The Kurds consider themselves Iraqis (some would like to become their own independent state), but do not consider themselves Arabs, much like Iranians are themselves Persian, not Arabs.
