  • The key pad cost 212$, and it is made by IEI. The pad is IEI 232SE Indoor / Outdoor Surface-Mount Weather Resistant Keypad. Look for it in google.com shopping to get the best prices. Some are trying to sell it for over 400$.

  • @andersoje2 this is accurate thankyou for posting this

  • damn thats cool! great job!

  • @shanetalbert Thanks man. The key pad now does more functions in the car. I.e. It starts the car. Kepps it running without the keys and controlls my head lights

  • Where do i get that pad? let me know

  • @jism408 you can get it at most highend security places. this one runs for about $200 +-

  • It's good that it has braille on it, in case a blind person wants to drive your car.

  • Nice idea but it isn't really secure. I work in security & i know a few of those keypads.

You never want the cable you are securing to be accessible. You said the ignition wire is going trough the box, & you need a code to access it. Good idea, but whats stopping someone from just... reattaching them outside the box? or even opening the box?. You want a keypad with a separate relay. So you have keypad -> encoded signal, not just NC or NO -> Relaybox -> cable. still nice video :)

  • Relay "Closed" for ten seconds...

  • You should isolate the keypad from the rest of the electronics, much more secure.

  • Doesn't look very plausible. The keypad should be isolated from everything else, anyone could figure that out.

  • see the two wires going intothe box cut them and splice them no keypad;-)

  • as far as security, you could always rap the wires in a flexible steal tubing and thro in some fake wires to keep people guessing. Just secure the keypad with in the center/dash and it will take just as much effort as if you need the key.

  • What if i pull off the wires and put them together? Also connect the engine bay's coil with another car?

  • you could've bought a bmw for that
