I love the Disney story, but I'm not pretentious enough to think it shares anything more than its name with the actual legend. I look forward to seeing this film. I hope it's a bit more true to the legend, though I doubt there was any romance in the original story...

I don't like the Disney movie. Never did when I saw it as a kid. All it did was romanticize the whole story of Mulan. War isn't supposed to be all flashy and fun to watch. This is how Mulan is supposed to be.

this is Mulan. Mulan is an historical character without any ancestral dragon and smart/lucky cricket, those add ons were for kids to be amused with...its not gonna be funny like the Disney movie XD

This reminds me of the first 2 Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons:

on one hand you have something which is more lighthearted and silly but fun which came first (Disney version, TAOSTH)

while the other is considerably more serious in tone but really does well in its character development (2009 version and SATam)

and you know what?

I am perfectly happy and content

I enjoy both and theirs a nice balance,

on a side note I absoloutly love Zhao Wei's acting here
