I was skeptical about the wheelie bar holding up to bashing, it twists a little but straightens up with further wheelieing. These trucks are great fun, so much so I bought a second one for my wife!

  • I would have originally given it a 9/10 but as the thickness of the body shell halved with later mouldings I'd drop that back to a 6/10. The newer shells are incredibly weak and there are very few after market shells that fit properly. The Chassis and transmission is very tough and hard wearing. No reverse.

  • well...

i have a inteligent fail safe that makes my mg16 stop when loses signal. but then for some reason when gets signal back it just its full throtle.

and every time it gets about 2 to 3 meters it loses signal.

ive allready spent almost a gallon of 16% fuel and i havent enjoyed it iet.

at my lhs they swapped the receiver but the problem is still there.

and every time i get my glow starter near to the the engines heat sink the servos just go crazy.

i need some help with this car. first nitro.

  • Electronic failsafes are no good when you have no power hence you should have a mechanical failsafe on any nitro or petrol model. Make sure your receiver aerial wire is full length (has not been cut). AM radios are sensitive to a lot of intereference; you can usually rub a screwdriver on a metal part of your car and the servos will twitch. You should have more than 3 metres of range; I would say 50M would be realistic as long as you're using fresh, quality alkaline batteries in Tx & Rx

  • and do you think that the only way to solve the problem is to make a battery pack?

  • akakobra: using AA batteries in a nitro is poor design; if you cannot solder your batteries together then at least make a throttle return spring, I made one for both of mine running the spring from inside a pen to the shock tower (from the throttle servoarm) this way if your car loses power the throttle returns to idle/brake.

  • hi there!!!

have you ever had any problems with your radio?

like loss of control, runaway, etc...

    plz answer.

  • akakobra: yes I did have a pretty good runaway with mine when I first got it as the receiver batteries in the car came loose enough for power to be lost. I soldered up a receiver battery pack using 5 x AA batteries and used a Spektrum/Nomadio radio, all issues sorted. These are a great little truck and I had 2 of them although sold them both after CEN started making the body shells 1/2 the thickness of the originals-I emailed CEN and the denied any change!

  • @akakobra mate just get a 2.4ghz system for it like i did, and get one with a built in failsafe.

  • how durable is this little thing?

    1-10 10 beng the toughest

    and does this have reverse!?

  • yeah...

i know that am is far more unstable than fm because i also have a cb radio hobby.

im getting a 2.4ghz next november.

i will try to do one of those mechanical failsafes.

because when my failsafe does its job its ok. the problem is when i get near to the truck again with the remote it gets full throtle and then its bye bye mg...

i took it to my lhs 5 times and they couldnt fix it...

do u have any more tips for common problems with these car that i should know?

    thank you very much!!!

  • yeah!!!

i thought about doing a battery pack for mine, but as i live in england and i dont have any knowing on how to do a battery pack i cant solve that.

i swapped the receiver and the radio for a cirrus from my xtm rage.

i was also using some cheap batterys. im swapped them for 4 rechargeable batteries of 2000mah each.

do you think that the batteries are ok?

cause i havent tried the new batterys still.

and do you think the radio is ok as well?
