I've actually got a 70mm frame from a long time ago. But not from the film itself. More like a publicity shoot. It's of one of the Moon shuttle stewardesses. But it's definitely a posed glamor shot. I cooked it slightly, using my old slide projector to see it on a large enough screen. It got too close to the bulb.
If anyone has the network promo trailer of " Earth II " from the WB DVD, would you please upload it? That's another movie Gary Lochwood did. Thanks

Keir Dullea made a thriller in Italy with Stefania Sandrelli, The Devil in the brain, in 72. Very good movie but very rare!

Our English class saw 2001 at the Cinerama in Seattle on a field trip in 1968. It was enthralling. Years later I met Kubrick's daughter in Los Angeles (she's the little girl who makes the phone call to her daddy on the moon.)

rent "model shop" on netflix -- gary lockwood and anouk aimee in los angeles, directed by jacques demy.
At 7:11, did the projectionist actual chop a few frames from that "beautiful" print and give them to Kier?! I guess he deserved them, lol.

Keir was given a frame from the end of a reel at a point after the change cues which doesn't get projected, so no damage was done to print. This 70mm print belongs to us and is very precious! Yes, Keir was delighted about getting this frame, and neither he nor Gary had seen a physical 70mm print (or projection room) before!

I'm not sure Keir Dullea should have given away how they did the airlock scene(in part 4 of this) but it won't take away my enjoyment of this brilliant film which I've seen many times at the cinema and on DVD.

I tend to agree with you - but the cat was let out of the secrets bag a long time ago when studios decided to reveal 'how it was done' and 'the making of' extras on DVDs. It is like a magician explaining how the tricks worked - it removes the magic, and that is unfortunate.
