Yahoo! That was a blast - slipstream blast! This was at dusk, and Ike was a large system. Winds were sustained at 75 to 80 MPH, with higher gusts.

the bridge was probably the safe point to be to avoid flying debris, i think if debris was a danger an individual could get seriosly hurt if accidently hit such as a tree branch

that can not be 100 mph cause thats day time and the worst of ike didnt hit until about 1 am

Great video!! Did you think about mount anemometer on car?

Actually, that is the anemometer from the "WeatherLab IV" That Chris built which is on the vehicle. The way he designed it is so that the anenometer can either be mounted on the car or hand held. At this location, we wanted to get a video of us with the anemometer, so we took it handheld. But in most cases it's on the roof mounted mobile set-up.
