Parodius (PSP)

A brief run through Parodius, as presented in the Parodius Portable collection for the PSP. This is the first game in the famous Konami parody series, and in this compilation it appears as an updated version of the original MSX game, with improved graphics, smooth scrolling (yes!) and rebalanced difficulty.

In this run I got beaten by the rock-paper-scissors boss and suicided out of disappointment, so no 3rd stage, sorry. :)

This port specifically is great for those who have a hard time coping with the excruciating gameplay of the MSX original version (such as myself).

How do you record PSP, with such quality ???

I used a component video converter, connected the PSP to the CRT and took the A/V signal from the TV by means of a capture card. Lots of cables, but at least it's posisble to see what the game is like.

Are you inferring that this version is far easier than it's MSX counterpart? The visiuals and music look and sound quite good!

@segagenesis1989 The Normal setting in the PSP seems to be equivalent to the MSX Easy setting. There are some slight changes in stage design and enemy behavior, but the PSP version is a bit (not far - lol...) easier overall because every stage has more than 2 checkpoints - and don't forget about the smooth-as-silk scrolling!

I've been pretty damn impressed with the amount of cool schmups appearing on PSP. Darius Thrust, Salamander, this, Gradius Collection! And i'm sure there's plenty i haven't mentioned too. Nice vid mate, every day's a good day for some shmup action. Wonder if we'll ever see the likes of "In the Hunt or Thunder Force series" some point. :)
