[[ Episode 3: Movin' On ]]
I felt kind of numb as I sat on the steps and watched as Jesse and Ella made their way back inside. I couldn't help but think that I could have been in Ella's position if I hadn't run away. I was Jesse's first love and it hurt me to know that I drove him into the arms of another girl.

"Hey! There you are," Hayden exclaimed, "I've been looking for you everywhere."

That was the one thing I was thankful for, a friend like Hayden who welcomed me with open arms even after we hadn't spoken in three years. In a way I had hoped that things would be like that with Jesse, but I knew that him and I didn't end on the best note.

(HAY) Jesse told me that I could probably find you out here.
(AUG) Yeah- I just needed some fresh air.
(HAY) Did you two get to catch up with each other?
(AUG) I wouldn't say we caught up, but we attempted to clear the air about a few things. Attempted being the key word. I just don't think things between him and I will EVER be the same.
(HAY) I don't think his relationship with a lot of people will ever be the same. He hasn't been himself in awhile. Him and I barely talk unless we are in the same place. And even then, I am lucky if we get the chance to speak.
(AUG) How is he with Ella?

I looked back toward the banquet hall and on the other side of the window, Jesse and Ella danced with each other, gazing in each other's eyes. As hard as it may be to admit, they looked like a couple who have worked hard to get where they were at. I could see the love they had for one another.

(HAY) I don't know. They haven't been dating for awhile, maybe three months before he got sent to Iraq and then however long he was gone. He has never brought her around any of us, until today.
(AUG) Wait, what?! They have only been together for 3 plus months? And now they are engaged?!
(HAY) Yeah. And everyone may seem really happy, but we are all in a state of shock. We all thought the two of you would get married. I mean, you know more about Jesse than she does!

As much things as I could have said to tear down their relationship, I couldn't bring myself to it. Jesse still had a place in my heart, even though I didn't in his. He was my first love and something I have thought about for the past three years. Although everything I was hearing from people made Jesse seem like a changed person, I was still willing to patch things up. But the one thing that was replaying in my head over and over again like a broken record was when he had told me that he would NEVER rush into something. He told me that it takes time to fall in love with someone and give your whole heart to them. To me it seemed like Jesse was trying to mend a broken heart by taking on a new approach to things. I truly felt like his proposal was a way to secure his relationship with Ella, so he didn't have to face another heart break.

"But I guess if he is TRULY in love with her, then everything will work itself out." I said.

I was trying to stay positive and remind myself that only Jesse knew exactly how he felt. Only he knew what his intentions were and if everything he was doing was genuine. But deep down I had hoped that Ella took good care of his heart. I didn't want her to do what I had done to him, because he deserved better.

LATER THAT NIGHT....
After the a rough beginning to the day, I finally managed to have some fun. Hayden, Jesse, Ella, my mom, me, and Jesse's mom all sat around the table talking about some funny, embarrassing, and good memories. Although things between Jesse and I would never be the same, we had some great memories to look back on.

"Not to go off subject, but I want to steal August for a second." Ella said.

Why did everyone want to steal me away? Especially Ella.
