Modernized Montgomery elevator with Epco(?) fixtures- Johnson County Community College

This elevator was modernized because the original control panel did not allow for access control of the "LL" floor. The original control panel has no door close button, but the new one has a door close button that works, so they obviously replaced the elevator control boards as well. In spite of the new features that the modern control panel has, the old one still works. They probably removed the old circuit boards behind the old panel and just wired the buttons parallel to the ones on the new control panel.

Oddly enough, there are two call-stations on the second and third floors, but they are both original Montgomery buttons. However, on the first floor, there's only one call station and it's a modernized one, of the same style as the modernized control panel (epco?).

Another oddity is that the original control panel has a "hand" stop switch, but the modernized one has a key-operated stop switch. I guess the hand one is for emergencies and the keyed stop switch is for when the elevator needs to be closed to the public for whatever reason (i.e. an employee needs it to stay on a floor, the building is closed or it's broken)

It's likely hydraulic because it only goes to 4 floors, but I don't know for sure. Montgomery was bought out by Kone at some point, so Kone now maintains and repairs existing installations. Kone, however, no longer builds hydraulic elevators because they consume relatively high amounts of electricity compared to rope elevators. This building is undergoing renovations so this elevator may be replaced within the next year.
