1) FLAG of iron, main star is Yueh Hua, a magistrates son wants a restaurant owners daughter and persistently pursues her. IF He can lift and shoot her late fathers bow, then he can have her hand in marriage!! But the bow itself is very heavy and he misfires, but believes he did hit a bird, but in fact it was Yueh hua's arrow that struck the bird. He easily lifts the bow and tells the magistrates son to go away, but the magistrates son continues to scheme to try to force her hand in marriage.....

2) A general is sentenced to death because his prostitute held him back from seeing the magistrate. The prostitute convinces the magistrate to let him go and soon she agrees to help capture a notorious bandit, played by Lo Lieh, who in the past has attempted to pursue her and told her she will one day play the instrument (sorry forgotten the name of the instrument but its like a chinese guitar). So her, her prostitute friends who know how to fit and the general go after Lo Lieh, infiltrating his lair. But Lo Lieh knows the tigress from the past and it only until the end she finds out his true identity.....

3) white water strand, DAvid Chiang is a wondering hero who stumbles on individuals rescueing a man in chains, Ti lung and helps the guards fight them off but lets Ti lung and his group to leave. The guards thank DAvid Chiang for his efforts and there master meets him, but also drugs him. There is a change in government, a new emperor and wants to use DAvid Chiang as a example to those who are against the government. Ti lung and his band attempt to save him....

I guess Chang Cheh only directed third story (with David Chiang and Ti Lung), other stories were directed by other director... see video description :)

If I remember correctly, 3 parts all talk about each heroes of Mount Liang (水泊梁山). They are not really that separate.

@JCVNFC No ! heroes of Mount Liang are only talk about 3rd story, and it's such a sequel of sorts to The Water Margin (1972). All these 3 story are unrelated each other. if you have time, just watch them again... :)

@acsodalatosmandarin There is no connection about these 3 story. these are just 3 separate short movies about swordsmen. I gave the "starting time" of each one, you may watch them separatly, That's all ... :)

OK, I thought it was some kind of story line by the director, but still 3 interesting stories, personally I hoped the first one would be continued in the later episodes or all stories would be lined together at the end. My misunderstanding ;)

@acsodalatosmandarin Actually, when I watched this movie frist, I thought exectly like you. But after the end of movie, and reading some reviews about it, I see that these are just short movies, with ending or without ending ! :S

I also loved The Tigress. The main character was very interesting and the plot had plenty of twists. All three stories were very good though. Now, what will I watch next?...

The second one 'The Tigress' is legendary, probably not one in a million has that character. Truly inspiring. Thumbs up. Chang Cheh masterpiece.

this was awesome. number 2 was the bomb.Lo Lieh and the girl rocked. did they make anymore trilogies like this one ? Yueh Hua didn't do that bad either. great movie to watch. thanks !!

@aumurg yah, i think i should, the last time i watched was without English subtitle, probably I misunderstood the plot lols thanks ^^
