Well, it looks like my router is at least partially to blame. That's the bad news. The good news is that I don't have to spend any money. It's just that I have to use a very clumsy and awkward wiring system that messes up the space of this house, so much that I'll have to dismantle the setup each time I stop playing. Here I am, making my way back up.
Race #1
N64 Mario Raceway
Hey, check it out: I dodged a Blue Shell. I was so surprised I pulled it off that I lost attention to the race and drove into the grass. No worries, at least until the very end, when a bump slowed me down enough for most of the racers to pull ahead of me.
Race #2
Grumble Volcano
I wanted to see how the Flame Flyer works (not to be confused with the Bowser-themed bike the Flame Runner), and it seems that what holds back this otherwise tremendously fast and good drifting kart is its horrendous acceleration. It can take over 15 seconds for the Flame Flyer to get back up to top speed once you get hit by something, making it not very suitable for races. But Wario still looks pretty cool driving in this big thing with a giant engine he probably can't see past. I'm also glad no one did that stupid shortcut that destroys normal races on Grumble Volcano.
Race #3
Moonview Highway
Is it me, or have people become more aggressive lately in Mario Kart Wii? I'm making my way back up, but I'm not going to do very well with the Flame Flyer, what with how often I get hit and all. I'm sure most other two-star players don't have to put up with this, as their VRs are too high to find themselves frequently among aggressive drivers. This will be the toughest ordeal if I intend to climb back up. But I've done it before, and I can do it again.

Can you dodge a Blue Shell by getting a Super Mini-Turbo?

@deathboy126 I don't think I've heard of such a thing in this game. It could be done in Mario Kart DS with a standard Mini-Turbo though.

I've always used the Wii Wheel. You can tell after the end of each race because you can see the Golden Wii Wheel next to my Mii.
