And then, there was a fandub. Nine months is "soon" for -me- okay? Like, 6 of those were waiting to be able to get all my voice actors in one place at one time. It's not entirely my fault. And now for some disclaimers (and then some more details for those interested).

This is a fan-made parody, please support the official release of Noir, available from ADV. Or whoever. Did ADV die? Anyway they own the license, Noir is the property of Bee Train.

The following songs were also used in this segment (in order of appearance): EDIT--Well, apparently THE MAN is stomping down here, and there's some automated to-do (or someone with way too much time on their hands) looking for anything that references copyrighted music. Assuming that an automated search through descriptions is the only way I'd get so rapidly flagged, anyway. So I'm only going to credit things I know do NOT belong specifically to Sony. Sorry, other artists. I guess I'll start mentioning you guys in the credits now. It's not like I used any songs you can't hear -constantly- for free due to their cultural significance, but hey.

Edit again--screw it, it seems to make no difference and this should be fair use anyway. I don't think I use more than an equivalent to any "free sample" of a song.

"Turning Japanese" by The Vapors
"What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
"Romeo and Juliet Oveture-Fantasy" composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
"Cool" composed by Leonard Bernstein, from West Side Story (instrumental version by StageleftKaraoke, and can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGy8mWN4O9M)
"Don't Stop Believing" by Journey

I'd cite the sources for all our sound effects, but damn if it hasn't been so long that I've completely forgotten. I suspect you'll find them quickly via Google? Eheheh... I'll keep better records in the future...

Well, here we are. It took quite a bit longer than I anticipated, and it's not as nice as I would like (seriously, sorry for audio bugs and the video problems and the relatively bad image resolution), but it's finished, and it's... well, mostly Bee Train's and ADV's and the above artist's, but whatever's left over that doesn't belong the voice cast is mine.

This isn't quite an abridged series, nor am I calling it one, because I declared long ago that when I abridge an anime it would have a more inventive name. I didn't say HOW MUCH more inventive, thankfully, or we'd still be working on that. We also broke a few abridged series traditions in having a relatively large voice cast for the number of roles, and well... just by the fact that we're hardly abridging anything, what with this covering only the first half of the first episode. Also there's footage from later episodes thrown in as well. I don't imagine we'll be needing to use it again, though. Oh, and you know, Noir is a damn hard series to parody because it takes itself so very seriously. But I think I've given it a fair shake.

In all honesty, I do recommend watching the series or at least the first episode or at least the first half of the first episode, before watching this. Not only is it a totally worthwhile series (if unintentionally hilarious sometimes, well, if it weren't so dark), but some of what I find fun about this is how I've managed to twist a few things so completely out of context. And all you Noir fans out there... please come look at this. Please? I know the fandom's pretty much dead, but... lesbians! And we're cutting right to the chase with it this time!

*Ahem* Anyway, I'm at risk of rambling on and on here, so I'm gonna stop.

Oh, and before anyone asks, the ending is a reference to the ending of The Sopranos. I can't believe how many of my friends didn't know that. It's not THAT old. Hell, it was downright topical when I had the idea--I didn't even watch the series and I knew about it. And, if it wasn't hinted at enough in there, that melodramatic montage is -deliberately- done badly, reminiscent of the majority of AMVs you find floating around Youtube. Er... no offense Youtube AMV-ers. You're at least working harder than people who do slide shows? Although slide shows have pointed me to some really cool fanart in the past...

That's it, I guess. See you in part 2.

  • This was amazing! I love the voice acting and the music - especially Turning Japanese!

"We're not going to die ... see?" *bang - bang bang* - brilliant line ^_^

  • lolz where else would there be bamboo? China XD

  • Great episode. Excellent voice acting and editing, but I would cut back a bit on the montages. Other than that, I absolutely loved it. It's much better than most of the crap found on this site.

("five to life, five to life, five to life. Quit staring at her leg- '"Okay" one of my all time favorites! Also "I. Has. A. Watch!")

  • YES. Seriously, this is so very funny, especially Mirielle's sections and the musical cues (I cracked up when Kirika turns round and the romantic music came on). Great job, hope to see more! :D
