Another batch of tea and a little more advanced info.
I the last 15 years or so, people have studied and enhanced the methods of aerated teas as compared to the classic dump and steep teas.

like any recipe , the quality and quantity of ingredients have a huge impact on the final product. I the case of C/T the more varied the ingredients the more effective and beneficial the results.

I am still learning and experimenting with my own versions of teas, I hope that others may gain a little more insight into the hows and whys of ingredients as I learn more about them myself.
The most important thing is, use the best quality compost you can as the basis for any tea.

A good source of fungi and fungi food is as important as the beneficial bacteria. You typically won't have a massive amount of fungi in your tea compared to the bacteria population , but it will kick-start the fungi population in the soil and on the plant, by trying to incorporate fungi and fungi feeding ingredients into the tea.

I am still just scratching the surface on aerated tea,, there are volumes of info still to learn, debate, and discuss on this wonder elixer !

  • So the steeped version can be held for multiple days? I always use the brew method. Very interesting with all of the additives. Was the dog food just crushed dry food?

  • @mhpgardener yes ,I crush it up a bit.... an Anaerobic organism can grow in an environment without oxygen

some will even die in the presence of oxygen.so a steeped tea can go for a several days up to a couple weeks depending on the ingredients and temperature.you can prolong it by agitating it and adding fresh water.

  • how long does this tea last? or must you use it all at once? is there a way to store it?

  • @Thesmalltowngardener the bacteria will start to die off as soon as 30 minutes,, I would use the tea within a couple hours for the most benefit. Its not advisable to store ,as it can go bad and be more harmful to the garden than helpful..

  • I am impressed and have incorporated some of your ideas in my process. Iwould suggest one thing, small tweak. Take one of your air stones and place it actually in your compst tea bag. I understand that it helps just that little bit more to have it directly in the bag. Other than that your process is the best I have seen. What other ingreadients are you aware would also benefit?

  • its nice to see someone take the time and know how to explain a how to..... nice job!!!

  • This is by far the most complete and detailed compost tea video I have seen. Very very informative! The dog food aspect totally surprised me! I would not mind to see you do a step by step of each item you add and what quantity for each. It would not bore me one bit to have as much detail as you could put in oneo r more videos on the subject. Thanks!

  • Great information and very thorough. Thanks for the update.
