This is a long stretch of unpaved road leading to the Kalaan Station Village. I was checking the place out with Tita Mila and my brother Mann Ed while taking videos of the surrounding rice fields, the beautiful mountains, and the sunset. This place is popularly known as a place for aswang. Aswang refers to people who are demon possessed, thus, possessing great powers, magical arts, omens, etc. Some goes through drastic transformation at midnight, growing huge wings on their back and are able to fly with just their half body, leaving the other half in a hidden place. These aswang are also known for their cannibalistic practices, such as eating human flesh. Many in the area, mostly the elderly, are eyewitnesses to the existence of such ones. Yikes!!! • I've been to Kalaan one time, that was a long time ago and I have a friend in there. I'm not from Panitan but from Roxas city. Your Videos and pictures just reminds me of memories - ah perhaps Ive been away for too long.

And by the way there is no Aswang in Capiz. When i was unemployed I want to catch a real Aswang and put it in a show and charge people (you know perhaps, pay per view ) and split 50/50 for me and the ASwang any profits. I catch plenty of chickens and mosquitoes instead.

  • Oh nice to hear that arntorre. I sure do hope you get the visit your province soon and check out the place, it surely brings a lot of memories back to life. I'm glad in my own little way I was able to help you reminisce your wonderful memories of Roxas City along with it's neighboring municipality. =)

  • Marc,

It was fun following your trip to Roxas City and I feel sorry for you for having been infected with the dreaded Dengue. I came upon your posts through a friend from LA who's been tracking down his footprints in Roxas City and Estancia. I'm from NJ. You might like to visit my channels, too.

  • hi there To2Ed! I'm glad to hear you enjoy watching my Capiz videos. I just have to be extra careful the next time. I'm doing much better now, but still in the process of recovering from the after effects of Dengue. I'll see ya around ;)

  • hahaha, sige, Marc, regards na lang duon sa mga Aswang :-)

keep that digicam aimed in front of you, someday you'd just be too glad for comfort and should be congratulating yourself, too, for having painstakingly documented all these

    behind you.
