Not to nitpick, but Dr. Jamison is a Clinical Psychologist who works in the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins.

@somewhatlongdong Agreed.

I really like and agree with what somewhatlongdong said.

She deserves the title of Psychiatrist. She's done the work, the time, and has her time in for her field. Her title wouldn't be Dr. otherwise.

PS
I think I'm right in saying that she is a clinical psychologist rather than a psychiatrist, but she is very highly regarded in her field and amongst many of us with experience of bipolar and depression.

Dr Jamison has been a tremendous help and inspiration to me through her writing, which I also consider some of the most beautiful prose I have ever read.

What makes Dr. Jamison more authoritative and compelling is that she has suffered herself. I often feel like psychiatrists or "counsellors" have no idea of what I'm talking about.

Dr. Jamison is so eloquent when she speaks about this topic. After hearing this interview I went out an purchased the book and I can say that I am so glad I did. Her writing technique is as amazing as her speaking. Thank you Dr. Jamison for all of your hard work to bring awareness to the world about mental illnesses and suicide.
