  • What makes Dr. Jamison more authoritative and compelling is that she has suffered herself. I often feel like psychiatrists or "counsellors" have no idea of what I'm talking about.

  • Dr. Jamison is so eloquent when she speaks about this topic. After hearing this interview I went out an purchased the book and I can say that I am so glad I did. Her writing technique is as amazing as her speaking. Thank you Dr. Jamison for all of your hard work to bring awareness to the world about mental illnesses and suicide.

  • Not to nitpick, but Dr. Jamison is a Clinical Psychologist who works in the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins.

  • @somewhatlongdong Agreed.

  • I really like and agree with what somewhatlongdong said.

  • She deserves the title of Psychiatrist. She's done the work, the time, and has her time in for her field. Her title wouldn't be Dr. otherwise.

  • PS

I think I'm right in saying that she is a clinical psychologist rather than a psychiatrist, but she is very highly regarded in her field and amongst many of us with experience of bipolar and depression.

  • Dr Jamison has been a tremendous help and inspiration to me through her writing, which I also consider some of the most beautiful prose I have ever read.
