  • Here is Wikipedia's thing about this song, to clear up all the arguments about the meaning of this song:

"The lyrics, written by guitarist–bassist Mike Rutherford, tell the story of a private investigator chasing down his subject.[1] The basic theme of the refrain is that the protagonist has a name and a number, and from that will home in on his target."

Here it is, now please stop arguing about what song means and enjoy it

  • exactly, that's what I've been saying all of the time... thank you ;)

  • @nik0la007 The saddest part? Most of these feral trollers wont even notice the message from you or from the man/woman who bothered to do the research. Instead, they will simply continue with their childish banter. I don't get it.

  • you're right, but who cares??? it's important for me that I know the truth, and few people who will realise what we're saying ;)

  • Phil voice was really at its peak during this time

  • @spyderj1999 in the air tonight, according to wikipedia:

Collins wrote this about the anger he felt after divorcing his first wife Andrea in 1979. He explained on a BBC Radio 2 documentary in 1997 that he took a couple of years out of Genesis due to his devastation.

  • @spyderj1999 Want me to look that one up?

  • @spyderj1999 always trust the power of wikipedia...lol

  • @Ihaterudecomments Thank you!!! That debate was about as silly as "In the Air Tonight" being about Phil watching a friend drown as a child and another kid with them not helping save him. lol
