i thought that red light was like a cyclops that got woken up by the diver than he would destroy the world with his insane laser vision.
but it wasnt

If an octopus was in there, that would suck

Amazing really...now run some cord add a fan like motor or prop. And blow that away and lets C what's under there lol it is a smoke screen or a window/port to china we must look deeper call NASA ask to lend a hand Mexico is part of the bible belt maybe they'll help out give a rover or lil sub to explore and find short cut maybe just saying... Thanx for the vid my mind is boggling over this very mystical looking peace to all

The video makes the viz look worse than it really is. I just dove through the sulfate layer last week and while in the "cloud" I was able to read my computer and could easily see my dive buddy's light. Finding your way out isn't hard...stay negative and you emerge out the bottom, stay positive and you come back out the top. I was able to "smell" sulfur while breathing in the cloud.

I'd totally expect there to be cthulhu or some sort of similar monster in there.
srsly, how can you dive in there so calmly?

correct fishgirl15, but there are also good dive story sites on the net. my favorite is the myscubastory site. they have real dive accident stories and a collection of videos too! Type myscubastory intogoogle and its the first result - :)

How deep is that underwater river?

@akibmatf to quote cenoteangelita -dot- com : "To describe it simply this cenote does nothing else but go straight down 200 feet." and further on: "…[the] cloud is found at about 100 feet (30 m) and stretches down to 110 feet (34 m)."

how ultimately COOOOOOOOOL is that!!!!!!!!!!! wish I was back there.
My Angelita dive #2 will be the same ... must make sure someone records it :-) Lord knows when I'll get back over to the other half of the planet to dive there again, but a definite must :-)

yes, it really is cool, but Stefan told us not to try this yourself, because if your jump isn't long enough, you might get hurt by all the branches of the trees that are right below you (and you can't see them until you hit'em). it can be really dangerous!
BTW: Stefan works at Yukatec Divers (yucatek-divers dat com)
