I realize this may get pulled, but I still wanted to try putting it up as a tribute to Patrick Swayze. This is one of my favorite scenes, and is definitely my favorite Patrick Swayze performance (sorry Dirty Dancing fans). For those who haven't seen the mini-series before, Patrick Swayze's character is a student at West Point in this scene, a couple of decades before the Civil War. Thanks to Warner Bros. and YouTube if you do leave this up for people to enjoy!

  • Why would it get pulled? This is one of my favorite scenes too. You can see his dance talent on display before it was well known he was a dancer. This mini-series will always be my favorite memories of Patrick Swayze as much as I loved Dirty Dancing.

  • Copyright...though I think the advertisement of the series might get more people to watch/rent/buy it, so having the clip up is a good thing. My Heath Ledger and Paul Newman tribute clips have not been pulled and I hope the same goes for this one. I always think the best tribute to an actor/actress is to show them at their best, doing what they loved to do. :)

Yeah, mom got me the dvd series whole series set 1, 2, n 3, Glad to see george and madeline in the last series, but wasn't the same without Swayze.............I MISS THAT MAN, GREW UP WITH HIM,,,RIP , ALWAYS IN MY HEART!!!!!!!

  • @Rkirk51 I have read them too, and yes well told, characters different, but I saw the movie first, and then read the book, in my mind put the character in the book...I couldn't put the books down

  • God, I know it's wrong, but I LOVE Elkanah Bent, lol.

  • I read everything John Jakes published. This trilogy of stories was one of my favorites and although the characters in this story when physically different than the men described by Jakes, this was still a well told story.

This scene was one of my favorites in this series. I also enjoyed the scenes at Mont Royal. We had an opportunity to tour the plantation several years ago. It is worth the trip just to drive the lane leading to the house.

  • Love everything about this scene, especially the music. Fits it so well. LOVE IT.

  • he's not tryin to hit him, but his sword he keeps making the same points of impact

  • @brandiiloveyou I can't believe they didn't shoot him and burn his body. I wouldn't want Bent coming back again! And he got off easy, don't you think? After what he did to Constance and everyoned else?

  • Love this scene so much

  • Love this scene!! I loved the way he made Bent look like a fool.
