SCTV fans can make a difference by writing letters to copyright holders and let them know that allowing their music on the SCTV DVDs is postitive, profitable and worthwhile! See the URL in the title!
I remember back in the mid 80's when I first learned about SCTV. It was on the local syndicated station in a block with The Best of Saturday Night Live and Carson's Comedy Classics. It's strange how there are so many more options nowadays, but most seem to be running the same old stuff.
Forget the DVD, why not just air the reruns on TV. Hard to believe I have 300 channels and not one shows SCTV. Nick at Nite aired it in the late 80's and Comedy Central did up to the mid-90's (and those were the "dark ages" of only 40 channels.
It's not up to just the Copyright holders, but the artists as well. Jimmy Page, himself, would not negotiate over the rights to "Stairway to Heaven", which is why the "Stairways to Heaven" was deleted entirely from the DVD.
And yet Jimmy Page was more than willing to suck cock and sell out with Puff Daddy.

Because these people have problems separating their needs from their greeds.

It always amazes me that musicians and corporations are against what is literally a free advertisment for their music.
