Here's my attempt at making a boring job easy..
Thanks for the feature Youtube.
I got the idea for using a dishwasher to clean a computer keyboard from an artical in the magazine PC Format (Sept07)
The dish washer setting was the lowest temp. + eco water saver...

As a few people have pointed out (thanks for the vid Aobloodhound) please don't try this with a cordless keyboard, lots of extra circuits & electrical bits on these that can get water damage.

Also a good idea would be to seal the plug end (which I didn't) with tape & a plastic bag.

My keyboard is a second hand Microsoft 'internet' keyboard, got it from Ebay a year ago for a tenner.. so no big loss if it all went wrong.

Monday 17th Dec.. it's STILL working!!!

Thanks liking my 'wig'
(51 years old & cursed with a full head of hair... I wish I was balding & grey)

  • it worked on my old keyboard but i dont know if it will work for the keyboard with an lcd screen on it...

  • not gonna try it my keyb has a lcd screen and costs 120€ not gonna risk it i rather spend a day cleaning it manualy but i guess it will work for low end stuff

  • "Usually it would take me days to do this!" and by using a dishwasher it took you a week =D

  • @kazyfandango IM GONNA TRY THIS =D

  • @Jtoksa2 Actually it works just fine so you should try it before say it destroys them.

  • This video should be titled "how to destroy a keyboard". The proper way is to take it apart.

  • Haha, this also worked on my wireless keyboard xD it didnt' on my friends his wireless keyboard

  • if ur using safari, u can click the reader button in the address bar to read description.

  • makes sense to me.

  • Wow people. just take off all the keys. put them in a mesh container. unscrew your keyboard and remove the electrical components then throw the rest in the washer. blow dry. resassemble then done...no longer that a hour 15 mins.
