Hes like Prince mixed with Hendrix wait scratch that hes in his own class!

@kamthewire PRETTY IN PINK!

@leewilla35 oh, he most certainly did. Prince stole songwriting credits, song titles, and everything from Jesse. The other side of Prince is his notorious "control freak" streak. It was as if he felt most threatened by Jesse out of all of the members of The Time.

Those were the days!!! This song still rocks 20+yrs later

@HypeRhymz As a teenager, everyone in my hood always thought of Jesse as the brown skin prince. Jungle Love was written by Jesse but Morris' vocals are what gave it power & flair that mdade it a big hit. people 4get dat Prince created the Time. They were his concept & he habd picked them all. So if they all could impress him, then they had 2 all be cold musicians. The Time gotta a brand new album coming out in September. I know it's going 2 be awesome. It's with Jam Lewis Jesse Monty & Morris,

This is why comments piss me off sometimes. Prince was not the cause of Jesse being underated, Jesse could've broken out long before The Time broke up. Jungle Love was written by jesse and he should've sung it. That was all Jesse, but Morris was the head of the band and he could've given that lead to Jesse. But that was then, Prince and Jesse are both funk and rock beast and are unique in their own way.

@jaker12 it is true. Jesse's look was a little more unique until a certain point when he was in The Time (probably @ Prince's insistence). After his first solo album, Jesse got further and further away from that "Prince-esque" look, probably to ward off charges he was imitating his once-mentor. There was a well-documented, not-so-covert rivalry between the two. Probably because Jesse's virtuoso guitar performances were the only ones that could give Prince's a run for their money!
