I wonder what market Mazda wanted to target with the cx-7 because I was contemplating buying one, but it looks as if it were made for persons middle aged, so I went for the Jeep Liberty instead.

did the 161 hp 4 cylinder feel sufficient?
my mom always gets compact suvs, and we currently have a 2003 tribute with 200 hp. i know they wont feel the same, but for around town driving, was the base engine good?

Just test drove the new 2010 CX-7 base model yesterday and was pretty impressed. I currently lease a 2008 MX-5, which I'm trading to accommodate extra passengers. I'd driven the previous generation, which was pretty good, but the new model has a noticeably higher quality interior and feels more substantial to drive. This new generation communicates greater structural rigidity through improving, already excellent, steering feedback and response. I don't work for Mazda :), I'm just impressed.
