Silicon Valley visionary Peter Thiel was one of the first investors in Facebook. He has backed many of today's most transformative tech companies. And now he's searching for the next generation of radical innovators -- in an electrifying competition unlike anything seen before.

CNBC's 20 Under 20: Transforming Tomorrow captures every step of this amazing journey, telling the stories of the extraordinary young men and women each vying for a $100,000 Thiel Fellowship. Brilliant innovators who are barely out of high school, they're working on bold ideas that could forever change the way we live -- and if they win a Fellowship, Thiel will give them the money and the mentors they need to make their dreams a reality. But there's a catch: to walk away with a Fellowship, they need to walk away from college.

It's a decision that will change their lives... and maybe even the world.

A two-part special event, 20 Under 20: Transforming Tomorrow premieres August 13th at 10pm ET -- only on CNBC.

The reason for this is the fact our societies are under-educated.

The media produces these reality TV shows because it sells to the under-educated.

The number of more educated people is growing and will continue to grow.

what the hell are you saying? They don't have unlimited funds..

2 million of investment in teenagers ideas ($100.000 each) is already a big risk they are willing to take. Do you even want them to choose more than 20 people?

Thank a bit about what you're saying..

So Thiel Felowship, please do tell why you pick the 20 you do, and why you only pick 20. I feel this is extremely hypocritical to preach that individuals can change the world, yet Thiel only wants 20 of them? Hmmm, is there a risk here? What's the risk. Don't just promote your ideology, give us some facts.

I watched most of this "CNBC" special, and it was the biggest waste of time ever. Instead of focusing on the kids' ideas and showing us how innovative or smart they are, it was a bunch of bullshit from the businessmen talking about how awesome they are because they are so good at making money. It should've been focused on the kids and their ideas. I didn't need all that garbage that those elitists went on talking about

Yes, I'm nineteen and I totally agree. I'm so sick of the media glorifying that type of negative behavior. As if we're all supposed to be that stupid. It's inspiring to see other creative young people who genuinely want to change the world.
