Il Piacere è il primo e assai fortunato romanzo di d'Annunzio, composto a 25 anni a Francavilla, nell'eremo di Michetti. Il Piacere introdusse in Italia il cosiddetto decadentismo e l'estetismo.
Il filmato utilizza foto d'epoca dei luoghi citati (sia per gli esterni che per gli interni), opere di vedutisti dellOttocento e di impressionisti italiani, soprattutto Giovanni Boldini e Giuseppe de Nittis.
Gli inserti musicali sono dall'atto III dell'amatissimo, da d'Annunzio, Tannhäuser di Wagner.

Il Piacere is the first and very successful novel by d'Annunzio, made at 25 years old in Francavilla. It introduced in Italy the so-called decadentism and esthetism.
The film uses vintages photos of the places mentioned (both the external and the internal), landscapes and italians Impressionists, especially Giovanni Boldini and Giuseppe de Nittis.
The inserts are from Wagner's Tannhäuser.
