"doesn't compete with crops for farmland" - wrong, issue is energy from sun; could grow food hydroponically or algae.

in post oil age, big issue will be fuel for machines vs food for humans.
[this is why we need population reduction ASAP]

I grow Phyto for my aquarium I'll be breeding seahorse's in 3 year's so I use phyto buy the cup daily to increase the biodeversity in my aquarium alot of advancement's are comming I hope this goes throu it will be the way where garbage itself can be broken down throu high heat pressured water and grinding which in turn produces a fertalizer that phyto can use as food which in turn will be used to run the grinding/high pressure

Yes, crude oil is basically fossilized algae that is millions of years old. There's other stuff in there, plants and insects and such, but it's pretty much 70-80% algae. Algae biofuel is, for all intents and purposes, the same thing.
