Howdy all! Mario Kart 7 was at my door on release date, so I played many a race online checking out the game. Plenty impressed with it, good fun, good nonsense and chaos, exactly what Mario Kart should be!
So anyways. I've played around with a setup recently to aim to record 3DS in the best way I can, and I came up with something fairly good in my opinion, so I decided to put it to good use! The drawbacks of the method I'm using is it becomes very difficult to see the screen while playing. Not so much it's impossible to play, but several times I hit walls that I simply wouldn't have hit if I were playing normally. Still, the quality is good for a 3DS recording. I'll work on the framerate soon, too.
Wondering why I'm not playing as MrBean35000vr, or 4TB MrBean, or anything like that? Well... it's cause I'm too lazy to make a Mii. I'll do it one day...
There are 9 featured races here! All different tracks. I'll list them in the order in which they appear, which, I might add, was NOT the order in which they were raced.
N64 Kalimari Desert - Well well, what a pretty port. A fairly uneventful race but you can't deny that the music sounds pretty good with the "frontrunning" beat in the background, heheheh. That troll of a train almost cost me the race... so amusing to be forced to stop to wait for it to get out the way before I could finish :P
Cheep Cheep Cape - Underwater driving is not my favourite thing to do but it is relatively interesting. Seems you can double trick on some of the underwater bumps, and that really thin shortcut is dangerous as hell...
Shy Guy Bazaar - Yay for Shy Guys on magic carpets. I love this track, mainly for its music, but it's a very atmospheric place with plenty of nifty secrets. This was a race where I frontran, so enjoy the frontrunning music, because I sure do!
DS Waluigi Pinball - Now THIS is a hell of a nice port. I always loved this track on the original DS and it has lost absolutely no charm whatsoever. But damn those pinballs, do they not know I can't see as much as usual? :P
Koopa City - Also known as Neo Bowser City, I believe. Another track I like for its music, hence another frontrunning race so you can listen to it. How long has it been since we saw rain in Mario Kart? Quite a while. Good to have it back, kinda. Them puddles are a little hard to see...
GCN Dino Dino Jungle - I was hoping to wonderfully demonstrate a nifty little SC that I worked out thanks to Troy, but Lap 1 was disgraceful. Cost too much time, on laps 2 and 3 I get it but I can't salvage a win.
DS Airship Fortress - They really picked good DS tracks to port, I have to say. Also, this race contains my first Lucky 7 of the video! Gotta love spinning a barbaric amount of items around you while attempting to navigate narrow passageways... heheh.
DS Luigi's Mansion - So, you may notice I seemed to bear a strange grudge against a Rosalina in this race... that's cause that noob did the Maka Wuhu/Wuhu Mountain Loop glitch cut to win the previous race. So when I finally got a Lucky 7, I couldn't resist having a bit of fun... (they came last, by the way).
N64 Luigi Raceway - Yay for tracks where speed items are key! This race was just funny and has a great end. See that player who almost came first? Same Rosa as before? Yeah... they came last :P Sometimes I really love blue shells.
Wuhu Mountain-- *switches off 3DS* No thanks. That Rosa had spammed it for ages evidently intending to glitch more :P
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video. If you haven't got the game, I highly recommend it!
