  • great piece of equipment when it still worked! Scrapped Locomotive radio. UP had so many of them didnt have to time stripp em down scrapped a bunch of sd 40 as they where

  • The button next to the volume button is a button used to tone the dipatcher up its programmed with a certain dtmf tone that alerts the dispatch. This particular radio will be of no use when narrow band kicks end. IT has all 97 aar channels in it. Dont use it much any more. I use two handhelds now Motorola gp68 and a HT1250

  • Came from a old sd40 UP unit that was sold to Mexico UP is installing these new radio by Icom and Kenwood that are junk. This radio isnt digital capable so it was offered to me with the transmitt disable. I dont use it much anymore since I have a moto ht1250 much better to carry around this radio is heavy.

  • This isn't a Astro Spectra its just a regular old Spectra, the Astro Spectra has another button on it and list the channels as 032 032 cause of it's narrow band capability instead of 32 32 like the wideband Spectra that you have.

  • Yeah thanks I realize that later after video was posted the other button was A/D button for analog or digital and they are also programmed with noaa weather radio I was able to get another one that is Astro.

  • What are you doing with a rolled up dallor? :P

  • what is the other button beside the volume button on these radios, and how many channels are in them and will these be outdated when narrow banding goes into effect? and do these kinds of radios have a squelch control? and what is the frequency range of these awsome radios?

  • omg how did u get this radio you cant get these anywear because motorola only sell thses to rail roads and wear could i fine me one of these?!?!?!?!?!

  • If there's anyone looking for one of these radios I just happen to have a few. Let me know.

  • Yes, he could talk back if he wanted to, if he has it programmed to transmit on that channel. But unless he is authorized to transmit on that channel by the licensee of that frequency it is illegal. And since it comes under the jurisdiction of the F.C.C; it would be a violation of federal law to transmit on a channel that you are not authorized to use. But monitoring it or listening is perfectly okay.
