An innocent young witness to a brutal crime finds herself hunted by the dangerous men and woman responsible. Her only protection is a hard-boiled police inspector named Lee. Relentlessly pursued by the criminals, the two take refuge inside an old barn. Stranglehold's True to John Woo Short Film Contest

International distribution partnership with OUAT! Media

INTERESTING FACTS:
The film was shot entirely in 2 days and the contest cut was edited in one week in order to be submitted to the "True to John Woo Short Film Contest" in time for the rapidly approaching deadline. The entire production, from concept to delivery lasted only 2 weeks.

After the contest ended the director re-cut the film, had an original score composed and added numerous finishing touches to create his proper extended cut for film festivals and distributors.

Although the filmmakers were not able to secure any white doves in time for the shoot, there is a total of 20 different John Woo film references in the short. Can you name them all?

  • im very suprised that this has only 1'000 views, i found myself leaning forward to see what happens =P. really good.

  • @LoadedMagizinePro thank you!

  • a little overdone and the muzzle flashes weren't to good

  • @kernelmilkshake that's hilarious because the muzzle flashes are real, and we won "Best Special Effects" at the Action On Film Festival for choosing NOT to use any digital fx. A bit overdone, sure, I can agree with that. The acrobatic twins were too over-the-top. I would tone them down if I were to shoot it again. The rest of it was intentional because we were homaging John Woo's style. Thanks for the feedback.

  • You just got a fav, a thumbs up and a sub from me... awesome...

  • @vul4ak thank you very much! We hope to be putting up some more films for you soon.

  • @jruwing87 thanks a lot! This is the only gunfight we've done so far but feel free to check out the rest of the videos on our channel and on the eospictures channel if you want to see more. All the best!

  • that was awesome. i especially dug the hard boiled-referrence at the end and the overkill performed on the first twin. but why do i think it's ironic that a short movie called "heroic bloodshed" actually takes place in a huge-ass shed? :D it kinda cracks me up.

anyway: would love to see more stuff like that from you.

  • @SlowItDownTributes actually I wouldn't know. Daniel and Simon on our team are fully licensed, have an arsenal of weapons between them and worked as the gun wranglers / stunt co-ordinators on the shoot. They have their own sources for blanks and they handled everything for me. You really need to have a professional on board who can take care of all that stuff for you.

  • @eospictures Where do you find Blanks?..I can never find them anywhere...
