  • I love that there' so much karate to be found on youtube I hate how many Grand Masters there are adding comments.

Jesus Christ! Every school does it different.

  • Bravo! Veramente bravo! Complimenti!

L'ho apprezzato quasi quanto la nazionale femminile del Vietnam!

Uomo e donna hanno due stili differenti, ma in questa esibizione si equivalgono in potenza ed eleganza!

  • ppl make me sick with mean remarks mean remarks SUCK

I totally agree that every school does it differently, but I'm pretty sure not a single one is teaching that one should finish the kata 3 meters in front of the embusen. This is just lack of study or simply put, wrong execution. This is one big challenge in this particular kata, otherwise errors propagate over 54 steps result in what we just saw!

    Oss!

  • SHOTOKAN RYU

  • Raw Power and energy!... Love it... Pretty style as well.... Good Job fella!

  • I this Kyoko Shinkai? I'm not an expert, just curious... :)

  • I this Kyoko Shinkai?

  • There's no flow or smoothness.

  • I think that was a pretty decent performance.

However, I was really annoyed by his cough-like breathing. There's not really any place for that in Shotokan.

This was definitely a tournament kata though, and I prefer traditional stylings by a long shot. It's certainly crisp, but IMO it lacks Kanazawa's beautiful flow and focus.

Finally, I prefer the old system, where we refer to this one as Gojushiho Sho. I believe that it's a better representation of the Gojushiho pairing.

  • @MrByaeger possibly "keyboard tigers" the ferocity of their skill and knowledge only manifests itself when sat in front of one. i was taught once that a fool talks about what he has seen a wise man talks about the things he has done (not as fluid in English but the point still stands.)
