If you haven't been to Brownsea Island then this video gives a glimpse of various sites on the island. Includes the Baden-Powell Stone which marks where the very first scout camp was located, and some red squirrels for which the island is equally famous.

  • Excellent video. Thank you for sharing. I've been going to Swanage for years but I've never been to Brownsea Island. In fact your video is my first introduction to it. It really does look beautiful. I absolutely must go (with camera in hand, of course) this summer.

  • Thanks for taking the time to watch it. Brownsea Island is worth going to at least once. Maybe you'll have more luck with the squirrels - it's as though they know exactly when you've got your camcorder ready because they usually seem to scarper just as you press the record button.

  • You'll have to do a trip around Beaminster next, Broadwindsor, and Stoke Abbott.

West Bay and Bridport you certainly do this well.

  • I suspect that my short, fat, hairy legs won't get me that far.

  • Ha ha, Guides centenery camp I went to brown sea island ... Me and my mate fell asleep on the beach and kept 500 guides waiting and missed the ferry :D lol

  • i went there for the centenary jambaoree in 2007. I'm also from Malaysia!

  • We spent a day on Brownsea Island a few years back and absolutely loved it. I would love to camp there but seeing as that's not allowed will just have to make do with a day visit once every few years.

  • I have fond memories of this island.

Attended the 75th anniversary of Scout movement representing malaysia in 1982. Slept in a tent with scouts from UK and Monaco. I wonder where can I get in touch with my best UK buddy mr. stephen price thomas. Best time of my life at the island -camp fire, kayaking and meeting lots of friends from all ove rthe world.

  • Yes I thought of that , borrow my bike.
