Actually it's a very good exercise. You need to understand that once you get to an advanced level, the upper and lower ball twist can turn into a very good power or plyometric exercise. By using a fairly heavy weight and increasing the speed, you'll train your stretch reflexes. Doing the same thing on the cable woodchop, and you'll bang the weight plates.

i have to say that this is not my favorite oblique exercise. i promise i am doing it correctly but i do not feel it in my obliques like i do when performing the cable woodchop etc.
