Metallica Suicide and Redemption Solo

My take on the solo in "Suicide and Redemption", Metallica's instrumental from Death Magnetic. Is it really James playing this? If so, it's gotta be his best solo. Also, I know I'm not a mega guitarist like all of you crazy youtube guys, but I like playing a lot. If only the best guitarists played... then... the forest would be...Oh, whatever. I'm going to go watch Psycho Exercises.

Used Ibanez Gio GSA-60, Peavey Vypyr 15, and Dunlop Crybaby

what setting did you put that on for your vypr 15?

Here, I think I used the k-stein model, but the EQ was, as people have commented, set too much on the highs. I almost exclusively use the Rectifier setting now and with more balanced EQ. The Rectifier feels thicker and smoother to me.

You have all the notes down, but buy a metronome. Your rhythm changes like no other multiple times and is all over the place. If this was played at a constant rhythm, it would sound a lot better. Still really good though.

I have vypyr 15, too...u should try to set XXX setting, with low-s on 4.5, mid on zero and high on maximum. Use the tube screamer setting, with parameter 1 on 2 and parameter 2 on 5-6. I found that setting much more good sounding.

have a look at my videos? only rhythm for now but i think i do pretty well at that. i play exactly as hetfield does on every song. apart from when he plays insane solos like this lol
