I don't believe that anyone involved actually wanted the girl to die. However, what they did was extremely reckless and beyond idiotic. I think their sentences should have been harsher-- one of them got out after only serving 7 years. I think she should have at least been imprisoned for 10-- one year for every year of Candace's life.

Oh I definitely do believe it was horrible. It's just that I thought it was different than this. I am curious now, though, what the actual text was. No need to see such a horrible thing though.. I would believe it if it traumatized some of the jurors.

i read this story in my psychology class it forever change my life my heart goes out to poor candace she looked like such a lovely girl these people have some crazy demons inside of them to allow her to die i feel so outraged after hearing this story makes me want to kick all there asses as a mother i couldn't imagine allowong these psycho's doing this to my daughter adopted or not she wanted some affection from her daughter she should of worked harder as a parent to earn it.

I can't answer for the video uploader, but the "rebirthing" was filmed, and that video was shown in court and transcribed both as evidence and as part of the court session. According to the news reports that covered the trial, the jurors were all in tears as they watched the sickening video of the girl's death. You can actually read the transcript on a few different websites. My sister had to read the whole thing in law school, and she said it was the most horrifying thing she's ever read.

Ponder was the worse of the two. She really didn't like the child and wanted her to die as she stated repeatedly. Watkins eventually joined in the emotional abuse. Of course all of them are responsible for her death. They deserve death sentences in my opinion. Ponder deserves torture and then death though because she was the catalyst.
